Micro filler (a beauty booster)

WHAT IS MICRO FILLER?

The micro filler I use in clinic is a mix of highly concentrated Hyaluronic acid and essential nutrients:
– Hyaluronic Acid – The HA used in this product is highly concentrated and non-crosslinked. This will help improve hydration, firmness and viscoelastic properties of the skin as well as tissue restructuring and cell regeneration.
– Essential* and non-essential amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Leucine*, Isoleucine*, Valine*, Glycine, Lysine*, Threonine*, Proline, Vit 6, Zinc & Copper for tissue restructuring and cell regeneration. Gluthathione, N-Acetyl-I-cystein, Alpha-lipoic Acid for anti-oxidant protection.

HOW AND WHAT DOES IT HELP WITH?

Micro-filler can help with skin redensification and prevention of the signs of aging. It boosts hydration of the skin and replenishes lost nutrients. Fibroblasts will be activated promoting collagen and elastin. It can help give a radiant healthy glow to the skin. Studies show skin texture, roughness of the skin and volume of lines on the cheeks were significantly improved with consecutive treatment.

AREAS WE CAN USE THE TREATMENT?

Potential treatment areas are the full face, including delicate areas such as under eyes and around the lip lines, neck, decolletage and hands.

HOW DO WE PERFORM THE TX?

The micro-filler comes in a pre-filled 3ml syringe (prepared by the manufacturers). The syringe is loaded into a device which resembles a gun! Settings are adjusted to suit, then we inject the micro-filer very superficially into the skin using the device. Once the full area is treated, I gently massage the area. We can also inject this freehand into the skin.

WHAT DOES IT MATTER THAT IT’S “NON-CROSSLINKED”?

The goal is to treat skin, not to try to fill lines or increase volume. The papillary dermis is the area of skin that is home to fibroblasts and elasticity. This is where we are targetting. It is incredibly superficial, therefore only a non cross-linked HA product should be used to ensure no residual lumping of the skin – a direct result of injecting a cross-linked product. If a cross-linked product is used, tiny lumps of HA will be left in the skin. These lumps can take up to 12 months to disappear. This product will integrate into this zone, nourish and treat the skin and allow the fibrobalsts to lay down new collagen and elastin.

IS IT PAINFUL?

The product I use contains a numbing agent to help make the treatment more comfortable. We can also apply numbing cream topically to the area to be treated. I’m my own personal experience, it is very manageable.

WHO CAN HAVE THE TREATMENT?

Anyone can have the treatment. Any skin types (as long as there are no active acne/pimples/ infections etc.) and any age.

WHAT IS THE DOWN TIME?

On average, minimal downtime is expected. Some patients have absolutely no bruising post treatment; others, particularly with very fragile skin, will experience bruising and blotchiness post treatment which can take up to 4 days to settle.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE TREATMENT?

To get the best results you should commit to 3 treatments initially spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. After completion of the three treatments, a yearly booster is recommended. Some patients prefer to have a 6 monthly booster or a booster a few weeks prior to a special event.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The cost per treatment at Laser Clinics Australia (I’m available at Canberra Center, Woden and Tuggeranong) is $650 per treatment. This includes a full consultation prior to treatment, numbing cream, and full discussion of aftercare. I also always offer a complementary follow up to check progress and contact details should you wish to ask any further questions at any time.

This is the injector gun that I use in clinic. Not as scary as it sounds. The device has five tiny needles on the end to deliver the product in a very controlled and precise way. We can also inject free hand.
