Platelet rich plasma (PRP)
PRP is an injection treatment where I collect your own blood, spin it in the centrifuge to isolate your own platelet rich plasma and then very delicately inject back into areas of concern in your skin.
When the PRP enters your tissues, it creates mild inflammation which triggers your own natural healing cascade. Enzymes are released which promote tissue regeneration, stem cells are attracted to the area and growth factors are released. New collagen develops.
PRP creates overall rejuvenating effects on the skin including improved skin texture and thickness and reduced fine lines and wrinkles.
Areas commonly treated include under and around the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, necklines, jaw-line, chest and decolletage, back of hands, around the lips and to stimulate hair re-growth on the scalp.
Risks and side effects are generally mild as this is a well researched treatment which has been established over some 20 years. Risks include redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness at the sites of injection, risk of infection (as with any needle treatment), minimal or very subtle result depending on your own bodys response to the treatment. Full consultation will be provided prior to commencing any treatment.
Results are generally visible at 4 weeks and continue to gradually improve over 3-6 months before further treatments may be desired. Results are completely variable based on the individual, no guarantees are made.
